JAZZED UP COUNTRY! - Country Weekly - January 21, 2011

On the surface, jazz and country might seem as poorly matched as home-brewed moonshine and champagne.  But the musical cousins have been making nice for decades.  The latest in the line of artists to coax the two styles is Nashville singer and hit songwriter, Anna Wilson.  Anna, who made her Grand Ole Opry debut in late 2010, has recorded the album "Countrypolitan Duets" with star partners including KEITH URBAN, RASCAL FLATTS, LADY ANTEBELLUM and KENNY ROGERS.  Among the tracks on the album due out April 5 are, "Walkin' After Midnight", made famous by PATSY CLINE in 1957, when smooth, sophisticated stylings began to edge out the honky-tonk sounds then popular with country fans.  Other artists who have taken to the country-and-jazz crossroads are:  WILLIE NELSON, RAY PRICE, RAY CHARLES, BOB WILLS, SHELBY LYNNE and LYLE LOVETT.
